The divine story of Khatu Shyam Ji
The Legend of Barbarika
Khatu Shyam Ji is Barbarika — grandson of Bhima — who offered his own head to Lord Krishna before the Mahabharata war. Moved by his devotion, Krishna blessed him to be worshipped by his own name, Shyam, in the Kali Yuga. He is lovingly called "Haare ka Sahara" — the support of the defeated.
A Temple Since 1027 AD
King Roopsingh Chauhan built the original temple after Barbarika’s sacred head was discovered at Khatu, guided by divine instruction. Millions of devotees now visit every year for darshan of Shyam Baba.
Aarti Timings
Five daily aartis: Mangala (4:30 AM summer / 5:30 AM winter), Shringaar, Bhog, Sandhya, and Sayana. The temple stays open all night on every Shukla Paksha Ekadashi.
Phalgun Lakkhi Mela
The grand annual fair in February–March draws lakhs of devotees, with the temple open 24 hours. Khatushyamji is around 80 km from Jaipur in Sikar district, Rajasthan.
